1. The Challenge
Designing With No Client, No Brief, and No Restrictions
Make a Mark is an international luxury packaging innovation platform created by Estal, Avery Dennison, and LEONHARD KURZ. Each year invites a select group of agencies from around the world to imagine new possibilities for wine, spirits, gourmet, and cosmetics packaging, built on three pillars: sustainability, luxury, and innovation. The designs become real physical prototypes and are published in a special book. For the 2026 edition, Tridimage was one of twelve agencies invited. The invitation came with no client and no brief, and none of the usual constraints of a commercial project. Every design decision was left in the team’s hands. That freedom raised a question for us: how could we represent Argentina’s DNA with authenticity while opening up to the global conversation around premium packaging?
We easily discarded dozens of sketches and concept tests. The hardest part was balancing two visual codes that rarely cross paths. If the bottle leaned too close to the mate, it lost the sophistication of a luxury spirit. If it leaned toward luxury, it lost the soul of the mate. We spent weeks in that tension until we finally landed on a silhouette where both worlds coexist and neither one erases the other.
